Red Roses at Twickenham

The Women's Six Nations brings the Red Roses to Twickenham for the biggest fixtures. Big crowds, a friendlier car park situation than the men's games, and often the best value weekend of the spring.

What's different in the Six Nations

Demand

These are the sell-out fixtures. Tickets go months ahead; the parking goes the same way. The close car parks are gone two weeks out and the Whitton PTAs sell their last spaces in match week. France and Scotland at home are the peak of the whole year. The fallback order when everything near is gone: Twickenham School and St Augustine's on the A316 side, Arragon Road multi-storey (437 spaces, no booking, first come), then park and ride from Richmond or Hounslow with the RFU shuttle, which runs for every Six Nations match.

The clock

Six Nations kick-offs are set by television: 2.10pm, 3.10pm and 4.40pm are the usual slots, and the 4.40pm ones (often Saturday's second match) finish in the dark. The road closures lift around 8.30pm, the community car parks lock up at 8.30 to 9, and the last trains round the Teddington loop and to Reading go earlier than you think. Plan the evening ones with the matchday timeline.

The weather

February at Twickenham can be anything from crisp sunshine to horizontal sleet. The practical bits: grass and gravel car parks get soft (some scout and school fields, the stadium's North car park), so if it has rained all week pick tarmac; the walk from Whitton is 20 minutes with the wind off the Crane; a car park with a toilet and a tea urn is worth £5 more; and the car is the warmest place to wait out the traffic, which argues for a car park you can sit in, not one behind the closures.

The pubs

The busiest pubs ticket the Six Nations days: wristbands, a door charge or pre-booked sessions at the Cabbage Patch and Church Street for the biggest games. Whitton and St Margarets stay walk-in. See pubs and food near the car parks and pick the car park to suit.

Away fans

Scotland, Wales and Ireland weekends bring a lot of cars from the north and west down the M40, M4 and M1. If that is you, Hounslow and Feltham are your side of the ground: station car parks. France and Italy fans mostly arrive by train and Eurostar and fill the Waterloo services, which makes Twickenham station's queue after the match longer than usual.

The Six Nations plan

  1. Book parking the day the tickets arrive: pick your match.
  2. Pick the side of the ground for the journey home and a pub on that side.
  3. Parked two hours before kick-off, earlier for a 2.10pm start (the zone starts at 11 and the roads are already busy).
  4. If you have missed the boat on car parks, park and ride from Richmond or Hounslow and use the shuttle.

Questions drivers ask

When are England’s Six Nations home games at Twickenham?
England’s home fixtures listed here: England v France (Sun, 14 Feb 2027, 15:10); England v Italy (Sat, 20 Feb 2027, 16:40); England v Scotland (Sat, 13 Mar 2027, 16:40). Each has a parking page with the car parks open for it.
How early does Twickenham parking sell out for the Six Nations?
Six Nations matches are the biggest of the year for parking. Expect the close car parks to be gone two weeks before, and most school and scout car parks in the last week. France and Scotland at home are the peak; book when the tickets arrive. From this season we record sell-out timing per car park and will show it on each page.
Which car parks are best for a Six Nations match?
For the biggest fixtures, the ones you can actually get: the outer Whitton school car parks (Twickenham School, St Augustine’s, Turing House), Arragon Road multi-storey in town, and park-and-ride from Richmond or Hounslow with the RFU shuttle. Anything under 10 minutes’ walk is a bonus if you book early.
What is the weather like at Twickenham in February?
Cold, often wet, dark by 5.30pm. A 4.40pm kick-off finishes in the dark and the roads reopen at about 8.30pm. Grass car parks can be muddy; tarmac ones and a car park with toilets are worth the extra.
