Twickenham parking prices: what to expect

A space near the ground is a seller's market for six weekends a year. Here is what the market looks like, so you know a fair price when you see one.

Last updated

The short version: £19 to £45 for a school, scout or church car park; about £26 for the council multi-storey; £15 to £40 for a driveway; the official car parks don't publish prices. Prices below are the ones we last saw on the booking pages, and the car park has the final say.

Prices by walk time

Distance is most of the price. Walk 10 minutes further and you save roughly a tenner. The tables show the car parks we track, with the price we last read from their booking page.

Under 10 minutes from the gates

£20 to £45. The most expensive band, and the first to sell out. These are inside or on the edge of the road closures, so you are also last out afterwards.

10 to 20 minutes

£14.75 to £25. The sweet spot: most of the school and scout car parks, £20-ish, and a walk that is quicker than the queue you would sit in closer to the ground.

Type by type

School, scout and church car parks (£19–£45)

Run by PTAs and volunteers, priced to raise money rather than to clear the market. Most charge one flat price all season; a couple add £10 or so for finals. Booking fees are small and usually included. The money stays local: see why these car parks are worth it.

Council car parks (about £26)

Arragon Road multi-storey in Twickenham town centre charges a special events tariff on match days, currently £26.45, pay on site, no booking. 437 spaces and first come, first served, so it is the fallback when everything else is gone. Richmond's car parks (Paradise Road, Old Deer Park) charge their normal tariffs, which for a full day work out at £20 to £30.

Private driveways (£15–£40)

Residents list their drives on JustPark and YourParkingSpace. Prices float with demand: £15 for a 20 minute walk on a quiet fixture, £40 for a drive on Rugby Road for the All Blacks. Read the walk time carefully; the map pin is sometimes optimistic. The cheapest listed driveway we track is Queen's Road at about £15.

The official car parks (not published)

West, North, Cardinal Vaughan and Rosebine Avenue are sold through your England Rugby ticketing account, per fixture. Prices aren't on a public page; historically they have been at the top of the range for the closest spaces. Blue Badge holders get 50% off: see accessible parking.

How early to book

For the big autumn internationals and the Six Nations, the close car parks go one to two weeks out and the rest in the last few days. For women's internationals, club finals and the Army v Navy match there is usually space on the day, though the Army v Navy crowd knows Whitton well. We check the booking pages for every car park several times a day in match week, and each car park page shows the last result: see how we check availability. From this season we are also recording when each car park sells out for each match, so next year the pages can tell you “usually full about a week before” rather than guessing.

Questions drivers ask

How much is parking at Twickenham Stadium?
On a normal England international, organised car parks near the stadium cost from about £14.75 to £45 for a car. School, scout and church car parks are £19 to £45; the council multi-storey in Twickenham charges a special events tariff of about £26; private driveways are usually £15 to £40 depending on how close they are.
How much is the official Twickenham Stadium car park?
The stadium does not publish its car park prices outside the ticketing site. Spaces in the West, North and Cardinal Vaughan car parks and at Rosebine Avenue are sold through the England Rugby ticketing account, per fixture, and usually go on sale with the tickets. Blue Badge holders get a concessionary rate.
Do Twickenham parking prices go up for big matches?
Some do. A few school car parks charge more for finals and the biggest fixtures (for example £35 rising to £45 at Chase Bridge for finals), council event tariffs apply on all event days, and driveway prices on the booking sites rise with demand. Most community car parks keep one price all season.
How early do Twickenham car parks sell out?
For England v New Zealand or a Six Nations match, the car parks within a 10 minute walk usually sell out one to two weeks before, and the rest in the final few days. For smaller fixtures there are often spaces on the day. We are recording sell-out times from this season and will show them on each car park page.
Can I pay for parking on the day at Twickenham?
At some car parks, yes: Arragon Road multi-storey is pay on site, Archdeacon Cambridge’s School is pay on the day for England matches, and a few scout and church car parks take gate sales if they have room. The official stadium car parks are pre-book only.
