Blue Badge and accessible parking at Twickenham
The stadium runs a proper scheme, but you have to know it exists and register before you book. Here is the whole thing in one place.

Where
On match days, accessible parking is in the Tesco car park on Mogden Lane, TW7 7JY, on the corner of Rugby Road and Whitton Dene at the north end of the stadium. It is hard standing (tarmac, not grass or gravel) and about 300 metres from Gate D, with a route that avoids the main crowd flow on Whitton Road. Stewards from the stadium's parking contractor are on the gate.
How to register
- Create or sign in to your England Rugby ticketing account.
- Submit a help request through the England Rugby help centre with photos of both sides of your Blue Badge (or your Access Card). They attach the concession to your account.
- From then on, book parking for each fixture through the account as normal and the 50% concessionary rate is applied automatically, subject to spaces.
Do the registration well before the fixture goes on sale. The accessible spaces are limited and sell with the tickets.
On the day
Give your registration number to the steward on arrival; they log it on a tablet. Skip that and the operator can issue a parking charge. Display the badge as usual.
If the stadium's spaces are gone
Walk time is the thing to minimise, and surface matters more than usual. The car parks within about 10 minutes of the gates:
| Car park | Walk | Surface and notes |
|---|---|---|
| Twickers Parking – Chase Bridge Primary | 5 min | Primary school playground, level tarmac, on Kneller Road by the stadium. |
| Egerton Road – Richmond upon Thames School | 5 min | School car park on Egerton Road, level; on the closed side of Whitton Road so arrive early. |
| All Hallows Church, Erncroft Way | 8 min | Church car park, tarmac, toilets on site. Use the Chertsey Road entrance when Erncroft Way is closed. |
Two things to check on the car park page before you book: whether it is inside the road closures (if it is, you must arrive about two hours before kick-off and can't leave until 1.5 to 2 hours after), and whether it has a toilet. Only a handful do; the toilets line on each car park page tells you.
Farther out, Arragon Road multi-storey in Twickenham town centre has lifts and marked accessible bays but is a 25 minute walk, mostly flat, along London Road. Council on-street Blue Badge rules apply in the town centre too.
Street parking with a Blue Badge
Richmond Council's position is that Blue Badge holders are permitted to park within the Twickenham Event Zone (Zone R) on event days, where a permit holder could. In practice:
- Display the badge and the clock. Standard Blue Badge rules (no double yellows where loading is banned, no dropped kerbs, no bus stops) all still apply and are enforced on match days.
- The closed roads (Rugby Road, the stadium end of Whitton Road, London Road up from King Street) are closed to everyone. Don't plan to be on them.
- Residents' bays fill by late morning. If you are counting on a street space, arrive early and have a car park booked as a backup.
- Part of the zone is in the London Borough of Hounslow, which runs the zone jointly with Richmond. The same Blue Badge allowance is applied, but the signs are Hounslow's; read them.
Drop-off and pick-up
Before the road closures (about two hours before kick-off) a car can pull up on Whitton Road or Rugby Road by the gates and let a passenger out. After that, the official drop-off and pick-up point for taxis, private hire and lifts is the Twickenham Stoop on the A316, which leaves a walk of a few hundred metres to the West Stand. If that distance is a problem, arrive before the closures and use the stadium's accessible car park or a close one. Details in drop-off and pick-up.
Getting there without a car
- Twickenham station is step-free from every platform and a 10 to 15 minute walk to the stadium, mostly flat, with a big crowd after the match.
- The RFU shuttle bus from Richmond and Hounslow East runs on the biggest match days, is accessible, and drops on Rugby Road. About £5 before the match, free after.
- Buses 281, 481 and 681 stop a minute from the stadium until the closures start.
Inside the ground
Beyond parking, the stadium has accessible seating in every stand, accessible toilets throughout, and a sensory room on Level 6 of the West Stand. Requests for accessible seating go through the same England Rugby help centre as the parking registration. AccessAble publishes a detailed access guide for the stadium including photographs of the routes from each car park.
Non-match days
Visiting the museum, a tour or the shop on a quiet day is much simpler: the West car park has Blue Badge bays and parking is free (register the car at the England Rugby Store), and the shop on Whitton Road has three 45-minute bays outside. See non-match-day parking.
Questions drivers ask
- Is there Blue Badge parking at Twickenham Stadium?
- Yes. On match days Blue Badge parking is at the Tesco car park on Mogden Lane (TW7 7JY), on the corner of Rugby Road and Whitton Dene, about 300 metres from Gate D on hard standing. It is booked through your England Rugby ticketing account once your badge has been registered with them.
- Is Twickenham Blue Badge parking free?
- No. Blue Badge and Access Card holders get a 50% concession on the standard parking price for that fixture, subject to availability. You register once by sending both sides of your badge through the England Rugby help form, and the concession then applies to your account for future bookings.
- Can Blue Badge holders park on the street in the Twickenham event zone?
- Richmond Council says Blue Badge holders are permitted to park within the Twickenham Event Zone (Zone R) on event days. The usual Blue Badge rules still apply (display the badge and clock, no parking where loading is banned, and never on the closed roads), and spaces are scarce, so treat it as a fallback rather than a plan.
- Where can a disabled passenger be dropped off at Twickenham?
- Before the roads close, on Whitton Road or Rugby Road near the gates. After that, the official drop-off point for everyone is the Twickenham Stoop on the A316 opposite the stadium, which is a few hundred metres from the West Stand. If someone in the car can’t manage that distance, arrive before the closures.
- Which car parks near Twickenham are flat and close?
- Within 10 minutes of the gates, the school car parks at Egerton Road and Chase Bridge and the church car park on Erncroft Way are on tarmac and level. Arragon Road multi-storey has lifts but is a 25 minute walk. The stadium’s North car park is gravel.
